Monumental Inscription Recording

The Monumental Inscription Recording project is carried out during the months April – September and is co-ordinated by Angela Golding. Volunteers are welcome to attend any of the weekday sessions.

Contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it   on 01432 274438 for list of parishes being recorded. This is subject to change depending on numbers attending the sessions and completion of each churchyard.

If you are not able to attend in person, perhaps you may be able to help by typing or checking against transcripts. Any help is appreciated.

An index is compiled from the resultant data and is available for sale. It includes a reference back to the published MI, either on fiche or CD in PDF format.

See Publications page for details of parishes which have been completed.

National Burials Index

The National Burials Index project is an on-going process of recording from the original parish registers the burials in Herefordshire. This is part of a national project co-ordinated by the Federation of Family History Societies. For more information see http://www.ffhs.org.uk/projects/overview.php

We meet on the first Friday of each month at the Hereford Record Office from 5pm – 7pm.  Volunteers are always welcome to attend: please contact the Co-ordinator Yve James for more details.

Volunteer to help re-type Monumental Inscriptions
Recently we have started a new project to re-type some of the old Monumental Inscription files and produce them on CD, perhaps this is something you can help with wherever you are in the world, i send you a pdf file and you just re-type it into a new Word or similar text editor document.
