Joining the Society entitles you to four copies per year of Herefordiensis, our Journal. Articles on your family research may be submitted to the editor for publication.
We also exchange journals with over 80 other societies around the world, giving more people access to your articles.
Other benefits of joining include being able to join our on-line forum and access to the on-line Members Interests page.
Once a member, you can submit your interests and update them at any time.
The society publishes the indexes which it creates from transcription projects which are then produced on CD either in database format or as a PDF(Portable Document Format) which can be read by Adobe Acrobat Reader which is readily available on-line.
Monumental Inscriptions (MI) were originally produced on micro-fiche. We are unable to get fiche produced now so all new MI publications are on CD in PDF format.
All publications which contain large amounts of data such as marriage indexes are produced with Microsoft Access or Excel with an appropriate free reader for those who do not have this software on their computer.
This page will list all events the society will be attending, which may include family history, craft fairs or small local shows.
Herefordiensis is the official journal of the Herefordshire FHS. We encourage members of the society to write and submit articles on their family history research. The journal also includes help wanted, surname interests, regular articles on a theme including extracts from the newspapers 200 years and parish profiles.
All new members are encouraged to submit their surname interests on joining the society which gets published in the centre pages of the journal.
This page page gives details of projects the society is currently working on. If you can help, please contact the co-ordinator for each project to offer your assistance. Every little helps.
The forum is where you can get interact with other members worldwide by posting on the members' forum.
To post on the forum you have to be a member of Herefordshire FHS and and a registered member of this site.
To register go to the Forum page and click on the Register text, fill out your details and click register. This sends an e-mail to the society contact who validates your membership. Once validated you will get an e-mail confirming your acceptance to the site. You will now be able to login and post messages.
Click on the text of the forum topics to see the posts, click the topic text to see individual topics and click Post Reply to add a post.
Don't forget to type in the security text.
Once logged into the site you are also able to up-load your Member's Interests to the Surnames page.
Go to the Surname Interests page and click Add Interests link and add your interests. Use CAPITALS for the surname as this makes easier reading. Don't forget to select the initial letter of the surname and click Save.
Each surname entry does need to be entered individually.
To see which surnames are listed for each initial letter, select from drop-down menu. To get back to original page, click Surname Interests on left menu.
The Contact Us page gives details of how to contach all the officers and committee members.
The meetings page lists all the monthly meetings. These are free for anyone to attend. There is no entrance charge and you do not need to be a member.
